For Fonda the difference between representation and abstraction is like the difference between clouds and sky. Painting is a philosophical sanctuary and spiritual outpost. The artist frequently employs abstraction, representation and pattern in a single composition drawing from influences ranging from mythological narratives to textiles to living ecosystems of the Earth. Through the exploration of a romantic worldview and a mystical inner journey, Fonda strives to find meaning in the world.
