Miler's practice reimagines time, space, and the human spirit. His monochrome graphite paintings are full of depth and spontaneous rhythm achieving a rugged vitality that highlights the intricate narratives and unique characteristics of his subjects. His serene color paintings, on the other hand, feature bird-like motifs in flowing strokes and gentle hues.
At first glance, his compositions may seem like simple landscapes with soul piercing eyes and celestial orbs. However, a closer look reveals the biomorphic nature of the subjects and their subtle breakdown. What might appear to be a head or wing dissolves into abstract shapes and symbols, open to reinterpretation. Miler approaches these paintings as an ethical and material inquiry. His practice resists narrative, instead building meaning through visual dialogue—space interrupted by line, volume challenged by silhouette.
