The Pit is pleased to announce a solo presentation of new paintings by Anthony Miler for ZonaMaco open February 9-13, 2022 in Mexico City. This new body of work expands on Miler's solo exhibition 'Witness' at The Pit Los Angeles in 2021. In similar fashion, these new oil paintings undulate between figuration and abstraction, with Miler's signature cycloptic eyes animating flat picture planes demarcated by bulbous black waves.
Anthony Miler was born in Toledo, OH in 1982 and currently lives in Brooklyn, NY. Miler received his MFA in painting from the City College of New York, CUNY in 2008, and studied in the UK at the Central College Abroad and the London Metropolitan University in 2004. One person exhibitions of his work have been presented at The Pit, Los Angeles, CA (2021), PM/AM Gallery, London, UK (2020), Maki Gallery, Tokyo, Japan (2020, 2019), and Thierry Goldberg, New York, NY(2016) amongst others. His work has been included in group shows at international institutions including Centre de Pompidou, Paris, France (2020); Willmsen Museum, Frederikssund, Denmark (2018); and Munkerphus Museum, Dronningmolle, Denmark (2014).
