Sun You was born in Seoul, South Korea and lives in New York, NY. She received a Master of Fine Arts from Wayne State University, Detroit, MI and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the College for Creative Studies, Detroit, MI. You’s work has been presented in solo and two-person exhibitions at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA (2018); Wagner College, Staten Island, NY (2010); and the Korean Embassy Cultural Center, Washington D.C. (2002). Her work has been included in exhibitions such as Shades of Time, Queens Museum, Corona, NY and Korean Cultural Service, New York, NY (2014); In Making, Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning, Jamaica, NY (2013); New York-Berlin Exchange, Korean Cultural Service, New York, NY and Berlin, Germany (2012); november remember september, Künstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral, Bad Ems, Germany (2012); and Urban Convergence, Asian Arts Initiative, Philadelphia, PA (2009). You is a member of the network of artist-run spaces known as Tiger Strikes Asteroid, and she has been awarded residencies at Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program, New York, NY (2018); Marble House Project, Dorset, VA (2015); Chashama Residency, Brooklyn, NY (2015); Künstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral, Bad Ems, Germany (2012); Atlantic Center for Arts, New Smyrna Beach, FL (2011); and Triangle Arts Residency, New York, NY (2008).
